Card in a Box Valentines

I've been dying to make one of these for a few weeks now - you wouldn't believe how many I have pinned on Pinterest!  I ended up making three of them because I found three different sizes on various blogs and wanted to see which I liked best.  I really don't think it matters because I like them all.  The first one on the left is from the Splitcoaststampers tutorials section and it's 5 1/2 x 6 when closed.  The other two are basically the same except that the middle one is a little taller so that it is 6 x 4 1/4 when closed and the smallest one is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 when closed.

The basic box is very easy to put together and then the "filling" does take a little time, but well worth it.  I cut all the hearts out with my Silhouette, as well as the hearts flourishes.  The stamp is from my stash done in Firecracker Red embossing powder (SNS).  The white background heart is done with a white microfine glitter on sticky paper and the red heart on the right with Gypsy Red microfine glitter (also SNS).

The second "box/card" has a birdcage to match the DP that was an SVG file from Bird's Cards. 

And the third "card/box" has two digi images in it that were colored with Copics.  The heart balloons are also from Bird's Cards and the little dog is from Little Scraps of Heaven (digis I've had for a while).

Valentine Treats

This is my last year for preschool valentine treats!  Charlie will be in Kindergarten next year which means 25 or more students, which means something much simpler with no treats!  These are the Cute Critters from Jackie Topa's class that I made last summer and I still have lots more.  I wanted to make the treat holder matchbox style, but the critters were a little too large, so I had to make them 4 x 5 with just a ribbon holding it together at the top.  The hearts were cut with my Silhouette and the sentiments just an assortment from my stash.

Valentine Vertical Stair Card

I just had to make one more Valentine card before I put the Valentine stamps away!  Especially after I saw this pattern for a vertical stair card on Noortje's blog!  The little bear is a Penny Black stamp I've had for a while and the rest of the supplies are just misc from my stash, that I've probably had for a few years too.  The card folds in at the stairs to make an A2 size card and the LOVE stickers fit perfectly on the stairs!  Here are a few more views:

Happy Valentine's Day!

 Just a quick post to wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day and to show you what I've been busy with this past weekend.  I got this idea off Pinterest, so I can't claim it as an original, but I thought it was just the cutest Valentine for my grandsons to take to school.  The monkey is punch art from the Fiskar's blog and the shaped topper was cut with my Silhouette.  Now the banana runts were not so easy to track down, but I did finally find them at a candy store in the mall.  Carter needed 26 for his kindergarten class and Charlie needed 10 for his preschool class, so needless to say, grandma was busy!  Luckily I had plenty of valentines from last year for me to send out!

Deco Diva Blog Hop - Love Is In The Air

My first card uses some non-traditional Valentine colors -  and Stamp Set #375 Cocktail Party.   What is a Diva without a gorgeous sparkly evening gown? The dress and oval background is done with Lacy Lilac and Pretty Princess glitter.  I left some white areas in the ruffles of the skirt to give the illusion of lace.    For complete directions, check out the gallery on the Sparkle N Sprinkle website here.


My second card is made with the Heart Cupcakes in the set Love is Sweet (#401).

I used two of my favorites from Sparkle N Sprinkle, Firecracker Red embossing powder and Sparkling Snow glitter.   A little bit of ribbon and some designer paper and you have a yummy looking Valentine! Complete directions can be found here.

Candy Hearts

I just love candy hearts for Valentine's!  This stamp from Sparkle n Sprinkle's new stampette set Happy Hearts reminded me of those candy hearts and what better way to showcase the yummy embossing powders available at Sparkle N Sprinkle!  And THEN I found this great designer paper in my stash in pastel rainbow colors with little hearts!  Perfect!  It's from Paper Pizazz and I'm sure I got it on sale somewhere.  The paper roses (Shabby Chic) were in Michael's sale bins.  It's one of those cards where everything just falls into place and I couldn't wait to show it off! Heart Wings #2

 

Here's another card made with Sparkle N Sprinkle's new stampette set Heart Wings.  This one uses three of the strips included in the set.  No, that is not designer paper in the background!  I layered three different lacy punched borders and then the chained hearts and XOXO in White Detail embossing powder on red and the "Kisses.." in Firecracker Red embossing powder on white.  The three heart embellishments were made with punched out hearts covered with Red Tomato tinsel glitter. Happy New Year Everyone!  And here I am with a Valentine card - sometimes I think the holidays are just one big blur.  This card is made with Sparkle N Sprinkle's new Heart Wings stampette set. (Wait till you see all the new sets at SNS!) The hearts are embossed with Sparkle N Sprinkle's Firecracker Red and Detail White embossing powders.  I love the Firecracker Red - it has just a touch of bling to it!  The designer paper is Bo Bunny and the ribbon is Really Reasonable Ribbon.  My two wonderful children got me a year's subscription to Really Reasonable Ribbon for Christmas - I can't wait to get the January package!  You can find the detailed instructions for this card on the Sparkle N Sprinkle website here.
